Screen mirroring is the display of the pc (or mac) screen on the TV no matter what app one has running. (Browser, Powerpoint, whatever.) This is very different than using an app that reads a (video) file and displays that (video) file to a tv. Yes, that is simple using DLNA. Smart TV(s) support DLNA. Many apps implement DLNA.
